tickets to win the Grand Prize Giveaway! Also register to

individual teen and adult library programs. Participating in

Metamorphosis events will give you more chances to win fun summer
reading prizes.

up for the Librarian's Challenge

Log
the number of pages you read and miles you complete (under your own
power!) to meet or beat the miles the Teen Services Librarian bicycles
each day as she treks across the state on the annual Pedal Across Lower
Michigan. Exercise your brain, your body, and save on fuel costs by
walking, riding, in-line skating, skateboarding on your travels. Turn
in your form by Wednesday, July 16 to receive your
Metamorphosis
insulated tumbler prize.
Library Arcade & Swap - five dates this summer!Nintendo
Wii Sports, X-BOX 360 Rock Band, and X-BOX DDR Ultramix 4 transform the
library's meeting room into an arcade. Attend "Free Play" events
to try something new and hone your skills for our competitions
throughout the summer. Are you looking for new books, games, CDs,
or movies for your own collection? Bring some old ones along to
exchange in our Swap.

style of rocker are you? Punk, Goth, Metal, Emo, Grunge?
Show off your styling and skills in our first X-Box Rock Band
competition. Prizes for games scores and "stage presence," so come in
costumes for extra points.

Sock Monkey Gets FunkyThursday, July 10
1:00 - 4:00 p.m.Create
your own loveable sock monkey from our supply of tie-dye and patterned
socks. Feel free to bring your own if you have a particular style
in mind. For traditionalists, we'll have some red-heeled socks
too! No prior sewing experience needed. The sewing is
simple, and we provide the instructions, materials, and
assistance.

Story MorphTuesday, July 22 11:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.Explore
your creativity with this fun workshop. Each participant will
create an illustration with a choice of media. Then they will
share their illustrations to inspire each other to write short stories
for the illustrations. A sandwich lunch will be provided.

Recycled Paper CraftsWednesday, August 6 2:00 - 4:00 Treat
our planet gently by exploring three ways to transform old papers
into new products. Three crafts offered. Recycle scrap
paper into new paper. Fold greeting cards into origami style gift
or keepsake boxes. Weave maps or comics into woven baskets.
Materials provided. Registration encouraged.

PersopolisMonday, August 11 7:00 p.m.Join
us for a multi-generational book discussion of the graphic novel
Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. Haven't read a graphic
novel? Try this wise, funny, and heartbreaking memoir told in
powerful black and white comic strip images and words...a compelling
story of growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution.
Teens...persuade an adult in your life to read a new format and join
the discussion. Snacks provided. Registration encouraged.
Metamorphosis Final PartyFriday, August 22 1:00 p.m.Celebrate
the end of our Teen Summer Reading program at final party! Come
for Wii free play and enjoy tasty ice cream snacks! Grand Prize
drawing during the event. Bonus door prize drawing for all in
attendance. Registration encouraged.
