Volunteer Opportunities
We offer a few different ways you can volunteer.

  • Join the Friends of the Northville District Library, a membership organization whose mission is to increase pubic awareness of the library, raise funds on behalf of the library to support its programs and services and to involve members in working on behalf of the library.
  • Become a regular library volunteer.  Volunteers are generally scheduled for one day per week for approximately two hours.
  • Volunteer short-term at the library to satisfy school or class service requirements (2-10 hours of service).  We must receive your application at least three weeks before your required completion date.  We cannot guarantee the availability of volunteer hours
  • Share your computer skills by becoming a Computer Tutor.  Open to high school students, grades 10-12 only.  Tutoring is offered one Saturday per month.
  • Participate in our Summer Teen Volunteer program.
  • Regular and short-term library volunteers generally work closely with the staff and help with a variety of tasks ranging from processing new materials, maintaining databases, assisting with shelving projects and general clerical duties.

If you are interested in becoming a library volunteer, please download the application and return it to the Information Desk at the Library.  Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted when a volunteer opportunity arises.  For short-term volunteer service, please be sure to indicate the deadline for completion and how many hours are required.
