Volunteer at the Library
There are many ways adults and teens can volunteer at the Library. Opportunities range from volunteering on an occasional basis through the Friends of the Library, or becoming a regular volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering, download the application below and return It to the Information Desk at the Library. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted when a volunteer opportunity arises.
Adult Volunteer Opportunities
Regular Library Volunteer
Volunteers are generally scheduled for one day per week for approximately two hours. Volunteers work closely with staff and help with a variety of tasks ranging from processing new materials, data entry, correcting records on the computer, assisting with shelving projects and general clerical duties.
Short Term Volunteer
Satisfy Community Service requirements (2 – 10 hours). We must receive your application at least three weeks before your required completion date. We cannot guarantee the availability of volunteer hours. On your application, be sure to indicate the deadline for completion of your hours and how many hours are required.
Friends of the Library Volunteers
The Friends of the Northville District Library are a membership organization whose mission is to increase public awareness of the Library, to raise funds on behalf of the Library, and to involve members in volunteering on behalf of the Library. Join the Friends and volunteer on a regular or occasional basis for Library events and programs. Teen Volunteer Opportunities
Teen Corps Volunteers – Summer Only
Applications are ONLY accepted between April 15 and May 15 each year for Summer Teen Corps volunteers. Applications must be picked up and returned in person at the Information Desk. Teen Corps volunteers assist with Youth and Tween Summer Reading events, circulation tasks such as clearing the book drop, and other varied tasks as needed.
Computer Tutor Volunteer
Open to high school students grades 10-12 only. Tutoring is offered one Saturday per month during the school year and two Saturdays per month during the summer. Applications for computer tutor volunteers are accepted throughout the year.
