Northville History Index Online:  The Library’s History Index Online offers access to two bibliographic databases containing nearly 600,000 records of the Library’s holdings.

1.  Wayne County/Northville Record Index: Nearly the entire run of the local weekly newspaper, which began publication in August of 1869, is available on microfilm.  There are three significant gaps, however.  Editions for 1880-1887, 1890-1891, and 1900-1901 are likely to have been lost forever though eight editions of the 1880s have been discovered and microfilmed, partially filling that gap.  The index is updated continually and now covers the period from 1869-1924 and 1990-1995.

2. Master Index: About ninety printed sources are included in the Master Index.  Included in this collection are transcripts from seven local cemeteries, a complete collection of Northville Historical Society’s newsletter, The Mill Race Quarterly beginning in 1974, over 30 oral history interviews conducted in 1989-90, ten David Clarkson Pioneer Sketches from the 1870s, as well as copies of research papers and locally-published books on local history.

A collection of Palladiums, Northville High School’s yearbook are available for the years 1921-present.  The library remains hopeful that it might someday fill in the 15 editions which would complete the collection.

Also available on microfilm, but not included in the indices, are the holdings of the Northville Historical Society.

The library also offers ‘Ancestry Library Edition’, for in-house use, which offers online census, birth, death, and marriage records and more.
