PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
Your team of 12 players must be chosen from the players listed on the reverse side of this form. All non-pitchers have played at least 80 games last season at the position under which they are listed. Starting pitchers started at least 20 games and relievers saved at least 10 games. If more than 80 players qualify at any 1 position, those declared eligible shall be the 80 players who most readily meet the eligibility requirement. Eligibility, based on last season's activity does not guarantee a player will be active in the Major Leagues during the coming season. Pick 3 starting pitchers, 3 outfielders, and 1 player from each of the remaining 6 positions.

CRITERIA FOR CHOOSING NON-PITCHERS
The ultimate function of all offensive activity (batting average, on-base percentage, stolen bases, etc.) is to score or drive in runs. Choose players who you think will score and/or drive in runs regardless of how successful or unsuccessful their contributing statistics may appear. A homerun is officially counted as both a run-scored and a run-batted-in (along with any baserunners). To more accurately represent actual runs produced, therefore, homeruns shall be subtracted from a player's batter points. Since your team will have only 12 players (no platooning), it is important to choose players who you think will play often. Points will not be earned while players are platooned, injured, unsigned, or for any reason inactive in the Major Leagues. Your team's total offensive points will be determined by the sum of all non-pitchers' (8 players) statistics as follows:BATTER POINTS=RUNS+RBI-HR-ERRORS

CRITERIA FOR CHOOSING PITCHERS
Choose pitchers who you feel will have a low earned-run-average and who will pitch their share of innings. Each team's pitching staff (3 starters & 1 reliever) will be expected to pitch an average of at least 25 innings per week. A staff that does not meet that requirement will be penalized by allowing .6 runs for every inning less than the required average of 25/week. The penalty is set high enough to hurt most teams yet low enough so that it does not automatically kill a team's chance of remaining competitive. Since relief aces are often called upon at crucial points in the game and the number of innings they pitch are disproportionately small in relation to their value, the weight of their performance is tripled when figuring a team's total ERA. The team's ERA is compared to the total ERA of all pitchers chosen by this year's participants. PITCHER POINTS=LEAGUE ERA/TEAM ERA. A good pitching staff will produce PITCHER POINTS exceeding 1.0, while a poor staff will produce PITCHER POINTS of less than 1.0

TEAM POINTS
Division standings will be determined by team points.TEAM POINTS=BATTER POINTS*PITCHER POINTS or...TEAM POINTS=(RUNS+RBI-HR-ERRORS)*(LEAGUE ERA/TEAM ERA) Standings will be updated and posted each week. Final standings shall be determined by player statistics accumulated at the All-Star break.

SALARY CAPS (OPTIONAL)
You have the option of competing in a salary-capped division or an unlimited-salary division, or you may choose a team for each if you wish. A player's salary is listed next to his name. A team whose total player salaries total $1200 or less shall be considered a "salary-cap" team. Be careful as salaries will be closely scrutinized! A team whose salaries total $1201 must compete in an unlimited-salary division.
