In order to use Downloadable Audio Books from Recorded Books you must have
A Northville Library Card
A PC computer that runs Windows 2000 or Windows XP with a Broadband or DSL
Internet Connection (Dial up is way too slow if you are going to transfer to a
audio device)
You may have up to 10 audiobooks for three weeks.
Step 1. Go to the Library Homepage www.northvillelibrary.org
· Click on Create a Free Account under Downloadable Audio
· Use the barcode from your library card to gain access if requested
· Sign up for a NetLibrary Account (one time only)
· Follow the directions to create an account
Step 2. After you have a NetLibrary Account, from your home computer, go
to www.northvillelibrary.org
· Click on Click here download audiobooks from netLibrary
· Use the barcode from your library card to gain access if requested
· Log in using the Username and Password you created in Step 1
Step 3. Choose an Audiobook
· Click on Search or
· Look at What’s New or
· Click on View All NewTtitles
· Use Show Details from a list to learn more about a book
· Choose Listen to Preview from an individual book to hear a short sample
Step 4. Download an Audiobook Do Not download to a library computer
· Click on Download this Audiobook
· Click on Checkout and Download either CD Quality or Radio Quality
**You must select CD Quality if you are going to use a portable device**
Radio Quality will only play on the computer and can by used with dialup
· A Download window will pop up asking what you want to do with the file
· Choose Save and save it to My Documents, My Music
Step 5. Listen to your Audiobook
· Open Windows Media Player (from Programs or icon on desktop)
· Click on Library or use Search to find your audiobook
· The following actions are ESSENTIAL
o Double click on the highlighted title to acquire the
license
o Enter your Username and Password and Click on Login
o The license then downloads, and you are prompted to play
the audio book
· To stop the playback click on the Stop Button on the Bottom of the Player
· Anytime you want to start it again, click on the Play button on the bottom of
the Player
If you cannot find transfer a file or license, and the help pages provided by the Library do not
